"A Farewell in a Flurry of Petals" is the seventh episode of Tokyo Mew Mew New that aired online on August 16, 2022.
Synopsis[]
New players join the game, but are they better or worse than the impish Quiche? Meanwhile, news of the Mew Mews has spread, and keeping secrets has never had been more challenging for them.
Plot[]
Inside a spaceship, Quiche laments about not getting to know Ichigo better and that more "pesky humans" are showing up. However, Quiche brushes it off and claims he'll get some alone time with Ichigo next time, but another Alien corrects him that there won't be another time. The Alien informs Quiche that Pie and he will be taking over thanks to Quiche's string of failures.
In a dream Ichigo has, she wanders through a wasteland and is confronted by a penguin Chimera Animas which she instantly defeats with her Strawberry Bell. Aoyama then appears and claims he'd like to reward Ichigo, which she believes to be a kiss from him, but before that could happen, she's awoken by her teacher. During lunch, Miwa and Moe briefly talk to Ichigo about her sleeping habits and how its affecting her participation in school. The subject then changes to the viral news about the Tokyo Mew Mews, which perturbs Ichigo. Everyone else in the lunchroom talked about the Mew Mews, leaving Ichigo panic-stricken about the situation. Ichigo also nearly blows her secret that she's one of the Mew Mew's and, in the process, spills a glass of water on the table. Aoyama then appears and offers his handkerchief to her, and as Ichigo, in a euphoric daze, thanks him for it, Moe tells her that he has left already, and so Ichigo chases after him.
Leaping from the second-floor balcony, Ichigo lands behind Aoyama and is spooked that her cat ears are showing. As soon as Aoyama turns around, Ichigo's ears return to normal, and she apologizes for tripping into him. Before Aoyama could walk away, Ichigo stops him and mentions that they haven't talked much since the zoo incident, but then realizes she could be acting too clingy with him. However, Aoyama mentions that he's Hornetn busy with his Kendo and that a tournament is happening soon. Understanding that Aoyama is busy with his life problems, Ichigo wishes him the best of luck in his Kendo and tries to walk away, only to be stopped by Aoyama, who asks they do something again. When Aoyama mentions that he hopes to learn more about Ichigo in their next meeting, the school bell rings, and Ichigo heads to class.
That afternoon at the Café Mew Mew, Ichigo is notably happy, which Keiichiro mentions to her. Also, Zakuro has started working at the café and her work performance toward the customers there is rather blunt. Still, the customers there appear to enjoy Zakuro's presence, despite not knowing who she really is. Ryo then summons the group to the computer room, where he explains the Aliens' goal of taking over the world and wiping out all life on earth. Lettuce then asks if they defeat the Aliens, would the world return to normal, but Keiichiro denies it, claiming the world was already in danger before the Aliens arrived. He also mentions the hundreds of species to be extinct because of the ongoing pollution in the world. Ryo then mentions that they hope to combat the Aliens with the DNA they injected into the girls and restates their mission to defeat every Alien invading Earth. Keiichiro also notes that their powers will disappear when there are no more enemies to fight. Speaking on behalf of the team, Ichigo promises they'll defeat the Aliens no matter what, and the other Mew Mews agree. Once that was settled, Keiichiro served the Mew Mews some cake with decorations that resembled them.
Hovering above Daikan Junior High School, Pie releases a thick purple gas around the area that infects the Hornets and trees in the area. Meanwhile, Ichigo watches Aoyama as he practices Kendo and is irked when one of his fellow club members mentions the Mew Mews and points out one of them resembles Ichigo. Although it's ruled out that Ichigo was one of the Mew Mews, Ichigo runs off and laments by a petrified tree, how she fears Aoyama would be the one to figure out her true identity. Furthermore, Ichigo becomes self-conscious over Aoyama's reaction to the truth if he were ever to figure out her true identity. Aoyama approaches Ichigo and notes how she came to watch him practice and then tries to ask her a question, but the petrified trees then mysteriously sprout cherry blossom leaves.
Chimera Animas Hornets appear and attack them. Standing his ground, Aoyama attacks them with his wooden sword and demands that Ichigo escape, but is immobilized by one of the Hornet's attacks. Not caring if anyone learns of her secret identity, Ichigo transforms into her Mew Mew form and, using her Strawberry Bell, transforms all of the Hornets back into their original forms. Watching as the scene plays out, Pie notes the disposal was a failure, and the success of the subsequent disposal would be 86%. Masha then arrives at the scene to collect the Aliens, but is perplexed to find out there is none. The absence of parasite Aliens also concerns Ryo and Keiichiro as it doesn't fit the Alien's typical M.O. Back to Ichigo's side, Aoyama seemingly has realized Ichigo's true identity, but corrects himself for mistaking her for someone he knows that resembles her.
Relieved that Aoyama didn't figure out her true identity, Ichigo introduces herself as Mew Ichigo and leaps off over the other side of the school building, transforms back into her mundane form, and passes out. Aoyama then located her and rushed to her aid, which Ichigo then gave him a good luck charm that she made for him. She then asks if it's alright to watch Aoyama practice his Kendo from outside, and he allows it, making Ichigo happy.

- This is the first episode where a parasite hasn't been used to convert an animal into a chimera.
- Only Ichigo transforms fights in this episode; her four fellow Mew Mews are seen only in their civilian attire as waitresses of Mew Mew Cafe.
- To celebrate the formation of the Mew Mew quintet of superheroines, a cake decorated with each of the girls' Mew Mew forms is revealed.
- An interesting fact from this episode is that Ryo and Keiichiro explained about the plans of the aliens to contaminate the planet, then they offer the Mew Mews a cake to celebrate, you can see sweet figures on top of the cake of Ichigo, Mint, Zakuro, Lettuce and Pudding with the hairstyles from the 2002 Mew Mew Power series.
