"Mint, the Runaway?! I'm Going to Change the World!" is the fourteenth episode of season 2 for Tokyo Mew Mew New.
Synopsis[]
After being rescued by "The Blue Knight," Ichigo wonders who he really is. Meanwhile, Mint runs away from home!
Plot[]
Sitting at her kitchen table, Ichigo eats from a plate of cookies while pondering who the Blue Knight that saved her was. Her mother Sakura advises Ichigo quit eating the cookies, lest she spoils her appetite for dinner. Right as Ichigo agrees to do that, a mooing noise can be heard from outside. When Ichigo checks it out, she finds an oxen-pulled cart that is carrying Mint inside with men in black surrounding it. Mint then announces that she has "run away from home".
Now inside Ichigo's house, Mint becomes familiarized with the place by Ichigo. They later enjoy a nikujaga dinner with Ichigo's parents, which Mint thought was delicious. Ichigo's parents are impressed by Mint, who considers her a big sister figure to Ichigo, who finds the comment upsetting. Ichigo's rebuke of her parent's opinion makes Mint recall her own toward her brother, Seiji.
That night, all of Ichigo's belonging are moved into the hallway to make room for Mint's oversized bed. Before they go to bed, Mint and Ichigo talk about how well Ichigo's parents get along. Mint then hints she's envious of that, noting how her father and brother don't take what she says seriously.
A flashback depicts Mint arguing with Seiji about how he disapproves of her becoming an entrepreneur. Mint argues that he's a hypocrite as he's already a CEO despite being in college. However, Seiji argues that it's a small company that's an off-shoot of their parent's main company that can't compare with their parents. Insisting that she's capable of her dream, Seiji asks Mint if her dream is what she wants. In a fit of agitation, Mint curses her brother and leaves.
Back to the present, Mint confesses to Ichigo that she's tired of being treated like a child, and Ichigo gets closer to Mint, then notes how she relates with her feelings. After Ichigo goes to sleep, Mint pulls out her laptop and uses it, vowing to accomplish her goal.
The next day, Ryo and Keiichiro review footage of the Blue Knight rescuing Ichigo from peril. Although Blue Knight's motives are unclear, Ryo alludes to the worse if he considers the Mew Mews his enemy, and Keiichiro agrees. Lettuce then appears, serves the two some coffee, and blushes a little when she serves Ryo his, which Keiichiro catches. With a bit of a curt attitude, Ryo inquires why she's there when the Café Mew Mew was supposed to be closed, and Lettuce responds that Mint had summoned them.
Upstairs, Mint, with the aid of a projection screen, shows her business proposal of revolutionizing wind power to her friends. As Mint explains the information and statics related to her windmill generator, which impresses Ichigo and the others. Furthermore, Mint details that she plans to compete against her brother's electric cars and propeller planes project. Mint planned to steal the schematics of the generators her brother uses for his projects to achieve her own. Initially, the girls hesitate to help Mint; however, Ichigo convinces them after deciding to help.
On the Aliens spaceship, Tart, Pie, and Kish talk about the Blue Knight, and Kish vows to protect Ichigo. On the other hand, Pie admonishes Kish not to act recklessly and wait until the birth of Master. In hopes of impressing their Master whenever he awakens, Pie proposes a plan involving some dragonflies.
Having another daydream involving Ichigo, Aoyama receives a text from her detailing she's fetching a generation. The text amused Aoyama, noting he had no clue what she meant, but was glad she was happy.
Meanwhile, at Aizawa Enterprises, Mint gets her, and the others passage into the place after telling the front gate security guard that she wanted to give them a tour of the place. Close by, Pie uses Enzyme One to infect the dragonflies in his possession, causing them to mutate and multiply into Chimera Animas.
Back to Mint's side, they successfully steal the car and propeller plane generators and use them to build Mint's wind generator prototype. Using a wind turbine to test drive it, Mint was disappointed that it only functioned at 1/5 of how she projected it to be. A buzzing noise coming from the turbine could be heard that alerts Mint as it's unnatural.
Outside, Pie observes his mutant dragonflies causing destructive winds in the city below. Keiichiro and Ryo are alerted by this and view the dragonflies' destruction. As Mint reviews the data, her test had produced from her laptop, Ryo, using Mash as a proxy, informs them about the incident in the city. He also mentions that the source of the problem is heading right toward them.
Just then, Pie, accompanied by his Chimera Dragonflies, breaks into the building the Mew Mews were in and threatens them. Taking action, the Mew Mews transform and attack the Chimera Dragonflies, but their attacks do not affect it. From Keiichiro's side, his computer detected a certain sound being made that resonated with the Chimera Dragonflies making it stronger, and advised them to stop it. Said noise originated from Mint's generator, which was impossible to stop. Pie chimes in, claiming that Humanity's greed led up to this; however, Ichigo and Lettuce argue it was Mint's dream to improve everyone's lives. On the other hand, Pie refuses to argue with them and, using his staff, tries to attack Ichigo, but Blue Knight appears and protects her.
Shocked by Blue Knight's appearance, he reaffirms his commitment to protecting Ichigo. Wasting no time, Pie attacks Blue Knight while the Mew Mews try and stop the Chimeras, but fail. Left with no other alternative, Mint decides to destroy her wind generator machine, but her friends argue against it. Once again, they try and attack the Chimeras, but fail again and get sucked into its high wind vortex. Recalling what her brother Seiji once told her about what she really wants, Mint destroys her wind generator, allowing Ichigo's StrawBell Bell to defeat the Dragonflies Chimeras.
On Blue Knight's side, he manages to best Pie in combat, causing him to retreat after collecting enough battle data on him. Again, Ichigo asks Blue Knight why he insists on protecting her, and Blue Knight again affirms his sole reason for existence is to protect Ichigo and disappears.
Afterward, Mint and the others stand by the rubble of what was her wind generator. They're then joined by Seiji, who wasn't only worried for Mint, but was happy that she did what she "really wanted to do". Hearing this inspires Mint on what she wants to do with her life.
