"Deep Blue" is the twenty first episode of season 2 for Tokyo Mew Mew New.
Synopsis[]
Tokyo is still encased in the dome of clouds, and the temperature inside is only growing hotter...
Plot[]
The Aliens kneel before the perplexed Blue Knight, who has no clue about their actions, and before he can claim, "he's a normal human". Kishe cuts him off and argues his appearance proves otherwise. The revelation causes Blue Knight to have a bad headache that brings him to his knees, and satisfied with their work; the Aliens leave Blue Knight.
News of the massive dome surrounding Tokyo, causing the area's temperature to rise exponentially, is aired. Elsewhere, the Mew Mews (Minus Mint) learn from Ryo using Masha as a proxy that Mew Aqua was within the vicinity and that they'll need it to stop the dome from overheating Tokyo.
Mint barges into her brother Seiji's room at the Aizawa mansion as he discusses ways to stop his purification machine with a couple of his co-workers. To grab her brother's attention, Mint unplugs his computer, transforms into her Mew Mew form, and demands to know his machine's location. She manages to learn it after giving Seiji a convincing heartfelt reason and immediately sets off to its location and then kills off the bacteria possessing it. Doing this prevents the dome clouds from becoming any thicker. However, the Mew Aqua was still needed to destroy the cloud dome.
Zakuro's super smell locates the Mew Aqua within the city's underground sewers, but before it can be retrieved, the Aliens ambush them with some Chimera Animas. Struggling against the Chimeras, Mint arrives on the scene and assists them, allowing Ichigo to use StrawBell Bell Version Up. Although the attack destroys the Chimeras, Tart starts tossing bombs at them, making Purin try and reason with him. However, her chivalrous act makes him flustered, and he tosses multiple bombs at the group, but Blue Knight arrives at the scene and destroys them all without causing any to explode.
Disappointed that their leader Blue Knight hasn't awoken yet, Pie suggests to his comrades they take more drastic measures. He breaks one of the pipes creating a flood of water, but Blue Knight slices the ground creating an opening allowing the water to recede into the ground. This allows Zakuro to collect the Mew Aqua and transform it into the Mew Aqua Rod once it's fed to Masha. Purin then uses her Puring Rings to create an exit to the surface, where Zakuro uses the Mew Aqua Rod to dissipate the dome.
On the surface, Blue Knight fights against Pie, and when Kishe joins in, he causes Blue Knight to be knocked away as an attack from Kishe and Pie strikes Ichigo. This results in Blue Knight having a meltdown and recalling his life until that point. Despite being portrayed as a perfect and talented individual, Aoyama never did everything with "100%" effort and had a cynical attitude with a disdain for how humans treated the world. This changed when he first met Ichigo, who he instantly became attracted to for her pure and natural personality.
Ichigo tries to console Blue Knight, but he suffers a mental breakdown that transforms him into the Alien's leader, Deep Blue, who then summons his personal base. The Aliens then reveal their history as Earth's original inhabitants, which Lettuce confirms from visiting Madeline on Earth in the past.
