Moe Yanagida (柳田 もえ Yanagida Moe) is a supporting character in the manga and anime series Tokyo Mew Mew.

Story[]

Tokyo Mew Mew[]

Moe is one of Ichigo's best friends and her classmate, along with Miwa Honjo, who she is rarely seen apart from. She and Miwa appear in most episodes of the 2002 anime, usually either at school or hanging out with Ichigo. In episode 23, she develops a crush on Ryou Shirogane after he protects her from a group of thugs. She and Miwa (who has a crush on Keiichiro Akasaka) are encouraged by Ichigo to make gifts for the boys to win their hearts. Despite all the effort they put into their gifts, the girls are rejected and their hearts are broken.

In the same episode, Quiche would steal Moe and Miwa's spirits in order to create a pair of Chimera Anima lovebirds, which are then defeated by Mew Ichigo. Upon recovering, Moe and Miwa learn that Ryou and Keiichiro appreciate the gifts. Still infatuated with the boys, Moe and Miwa vow to open a fan club for them.

Despite their close friendship, Moe never finds out that Ichigo is a Mew Mew.

Appearance and personality[]

Moe has dark red eyes and thick blonde hair. The 2002 anime has it styled in a wavy bob, while in the 2022 anime it's long enough to reach her chest. She's light-skinned and roughly the same height as Ichigo. Much like Miwa, she has a bright outlook on life.

She is fully supportive of Ichigo and Masaya's relationship, often accompanying Ichigo to Masaya's kendo matches. She has chastised Ichigo for sleeping through her classes. Like Ichigo, she struggles to make it to school on time.

In Mew Mew Power, she acts somewhat harsh and rude towards Zoey (Ichigo), often poking fun at her friend and getting Zoey worked up.
