Who Doesn't Want to Be Her? Our Last Member Is a Huge Star! (jpn. 憧れのお姉さま 最後の一人は大スター Akogare no onēsama, saigo no hitori wa dai sutā) is the 4th episode of the 1st season of Tokyo Mew Mew New anime. It aired in Japan on July 27, 2022.

Summary[]

Ichigo, Mint, Lettuce, and Pudding are elated when they discover that the fifth and last member of their superheroine team is none other than a famous actress and singer by the name of Zakuro Fujiwara.

Plot[]

At school, Ichigo, Moe, and Miwa watch as Aoyama is swarmed by his adoring fans. Miwa and Moe are confused by Ichigo's refusal to approach Aoyama and her cat-like responses to them. Ichigo was overjoyed by Aoyama's present from the other day and wanted to give Aoyama some space.

Arriving at Café Mew Mew, Ichigo was shocked by Pudding riding on a unicycle while carrying a couple of plates. Lettuce then rushes over to Ichigo to see if she's alright and to inform her that Pudding is now an employee of the cafe. Although an extra hand is there to help in the cafe, Ichigo's responsibilities haven't lightened in the slightest.

After the cafe closes, Ichigo goes to confront Ryo about the predicament she's in because of him. When she does, she catches him sitting shirtless by his window with Masha by his side. Once Ryo dresses and dries off the wetness from his hair, Ichigo notices how sad his room feels and wants to ask more about him and his background. However, Ryo's stomach growls, and she prepares some rice balls, which he enjoys. Mint then barges into the room and announces that she's figured out a way to activate the powers of the fifth member Zakuro Fujiwara.

Mint further elaborates the information in the basement HQ about Zakuro's background. As it turns out, Zakuro was holding auditions for people to perform with her on stage, and it was the Mew Mews' assigned task to audition for the role. Afterward, Keiichiro and Ryo talk about how the group will have trouble trying to recruit Zakuro to their cause. However, it's noted overcoming this is what'll help them succeed in their task and would sequentially make them stronger.

On the day of the auditions, the Mew Mews assemble outside where the auditions are being held. Inside the place, they notice that Zakuro isn't present, and Mint tells them that she'll be there at the final round, where she'll judge their acting skills. The three make it to the final round, where they act out an improvised scene together. Pudding, however, abruptly crashes it with her act, making Zakuro get on the stage, join in, and break into song. The performance earns a round of applause from the panel of judges.

Afterward, on the rooftop of the audition site, the Mew Mews thank Zakuro for saving their performance, which she flushed claims was nothing. At that moment, Quiche before the group with a murder of Crow Animas and uses them against the Mew Mews. The Mew Mews then transform, but still have trouble against the Crow Animas, and so Zakuro transforms into her Mew Mew Form and deals with the Crow Animas. With the Crow Animas defeated, Quiche retreats, and the Mew Mews hope that Zakuro will join their cause, but she flatly refuses. Mint then tries to reason with her, but Zakuro tells her that she is "annoying", leaving Mint saddened by her idol's cold and indifferent response. Ichigo wonders why Zakuro would even think of refusing to join them.

Trivia[]

  • In the early 2000s original anime's tenth episode, the other four Mew Mew girls come to realize that their fifth and final teammate is a top model and actress, whom Mint personally idolized, by fitting her picture with the silhouette of the gray wolf-tailed/ears of the female vigilante who saved several people from rouge Chimera Animas with her abilities alone, which goes to show that earlier version of Zakuro had discovered her dormant Mew Mew wolf-like abilities all on her own; whereas the others were told of their respective abilities by Ryo and Akasaka some weeks before. Also, a flock of crows had attacked, but in a church, where Kisho was attempting to get Zaukro to side with him, and when Mint expressed her gratitude and happiness that her idol was just like her, she was roughly rebuffed by Zakuro, who had pushed her.
